Spring Book Talk

Today I'm here to talk about books! Yes...B-O-O-K-S! Oh how I ❤️📙 !
It's time to whip out some SPRING reads! Check out my list of SPRING Books!

My favorite Spring Read is The LORAX! I love reading this book with youngsters because like many of Dr. Seuss books it is so animated and full of colorful characters with a thoughtful message. This book allows for conversations to be had related to economy and the environment.  The Lorax is one of my favorite SPRING read aloud because I love that it connects with the environment which is perfect during the month of APRIL and it also connects with economy and TAX DAY!

People all have needs but we also are bombarded with commercials and sale ads that tell us we need MORE! Our needs become "THNEEDS" or  things that we think we need and if our "THNEEDS" are causing more harm than the amount we need them, maybe it's time to re-evaluate what we're buying. The Lorax speaks for the trees and the Once-ler tries to teach the kid to learn from HIS mistakes. This is a really great book for inspiring kids to be  'eco' aware! Dr. Seuss published this book in 1971 and the message still holds up.

My favorite line is:
"You're in charge of the last of the Truffula Seeds. And Truffula Trees are what everyone needs. Plant a new Truffula.Treat it with care.
Give it clean water. And feed it fresh air.

Grow a forest. Protect it from axes that hack. Then the Lorax
and all of his friends
may come back!"

Check out my April Choice Board which includes many other SPRING & ECO Friendly activities for young readers.

Thanks y'all for stopping by and head on over to Reading Toward The Stars and Focused on Fifth to link up your favorite books!
